Companies’ due diligence

The European Directive 2024/1760 of the European Parliament and of the European Council on corporate due diligence in matters of sustainability, commonly referred to as CS3D, was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on the 5 July.

CS3D is the result of a legislative process initiated more than two years ago by the European Commission and establishes the duty to prevent, mitigate, correct and remedy the adverse effects of companies on the environment and human rights resulting from their operations and operations in their chain of activities.

CS3D will enter into force on July 26, 2024, and member states have two years to transpose the directive into national law. Companies will apply these rules gradually from 26 July 2027, depending on their size and turnover.

Companies with thresholds lower than those set out in CS3D should also implement diligent human rights and environmental risk management systems.

CS3D represents a significant milestone for all companies. Make sure your organisation is informed and compliant.
